EduNova Membership Policy


The following are excerpts from the Membership Policy adopted and approved by the Board of Directors in accordance with the By-Laws of the EduNova Co-operative Limited; hereinafter referred to as "EduNova".

About EduNova Co-operative Limited
EduNova is the provincial association for public and private suppliers for education and training. The association has been established pursuant to appropriate legislation and fulfills the requirements of a Nova Scotia based co-operative association. EduNova is dedicated to international student recruitment and the export of educational products and services.

EduNova has been founded to:
  • Help build linkages among members.
  • Position Nova Scotia as a destination of choice for international students.
  • Pursue opportunities to secure international contracts (projects) that directly involve the members.
  • Raise the profile of Nova Scotia's role in international education by communicating economic and social benefits to government partners and local communities across the province.
  • Support the professional development of members.
Membership Categories
Under the By-Laws, EduNova has the following categories of membership:
  • Member;
  • Associate.
The Board of Directors shall have the authority to approve or reject any application for membership.

Member Category
Members shall be public and private education and training providers recommended for membership by the Board of Directors and approved by vote of the EduNova membership provided that such Members satisfy the following conditions:
  • Members shall have their operation based in Nova Scotia and shall not be controlled by or be the property of any non-Nova Scotian entity.
  • Members shall have as their core mission the provision of education and/or training services and/or education products.
  • Members shall demonstrate quality assurance through cyclical or on-going assessment of programs and services and through accreditation, where applicable, by a recognized body. Such recognized bodies include, but are not limited to:
    1. Languages Canada (LC).
    2. Association of Private Career Colleges of Nova Scotia.
    3. National Association of Career Colleges.
Evidence of accreditation may be required by the Board of Directors. Applicants should include this information with their application for membership.

Application for the Member category of membership shall be made in writing to the Board of Directors and must be accompanied by letters of edorsement. No application for the Member category of membership shall be accepted unless approved by the Board of Directors.

Associate Category
Associates shall be public and private education and training organizations based in Nova Scotia that are from time to time recommended for the Associate category of membership by the Board of Directors and approved by vote of the EduNova membership provided that such Associates satisfy the following conditions:
  • Associates shall have objectives consistent with those of EduNova.
  • Associates shall not be a government department or agency.
  • Associates shall have been operational for at least 12 consecutive months prior to the application for Associate category of membership or have a demonstrable track record in the education and training field complementary to that of the current EduNova membership.
Application for the Associate category of membership shall be made in writing to the Board of Directors and must be accompanied by letters of edorsement. No application for the Associate category of membership shall be accepted unless approved by the Board of Directors.

Membership Benefits
Membership in EduNova provides Members and Associates with access to local, national and international networks and advocacy efforts.

Members
Official representatives:
  • May attend any meeting of EduNova.
  • Are entitled to each cast one vote at any meeting of EduNova.
  • Are entitled to hold any office of EduNova.
  • Will receive the quarterly EduNova newsletter.
  • Will have access to the members-only pages on the EduNova website: www.edunova.ca.
Associates
Official representatives:
  • May attend the Annual General Meeting of EduNova.
  • Will receive the quarterly EduNova newsletter.
  • Will have access to the members-only pages on the EduNova website: www.edunova.ca.
